"MM. Out of this appropriation, $2,000,000 the second year from the general fund is provided to the Department of Education for paid or stipend-enabled on-the-job training, for terms totaling up to 240 hours and at a maximum hourly rate of $15 per hour per public high school student trainee, with the purpose of helping bridge the gap between technical rooftop solar and residential energy efficiency accreditation programs supported by the Commonwealth and the maximum possible number of permanent job placements for those who have completed such accreditation programs."

Explanation

(This amendment adds $2.0 million the second year from the general fund for the Department of Education for paid or stipend-enabled on-the-job training with the purpose of helping bridge the gap between technical rooftop solar and residential energy efficiency accreditation programs supported by Commonwealth and the maximum possible number of permanent job placements for those who have completed such accreditation programs. The funding may result in the placement of up to 555 rooftop solar and energy efficiency workers, dependent on stipend levels, and could result in the permanent job placement of those individuals at a projected hourly rate $2-$10 greater than they could otherwise earn without the on-the-job training.)
