Explanation

(This amendment provides $3.0 million GF the second year to increase funding for child advocacy centers (CAC). The Federal Victims of Crime Act funding has been considerably reduced. This funding request will make it possible to continue to provide services for abused children and their families. The total cost to treat a child at a CAC in 2024 was $2,160. Children and family visits are on the rise, in part due to an increase in identified child human trafficking cases. There are currently 28 CACs serving more than 7,500 children, a number expected to rise to almost 10,000 children by the end of fiscal year 2026.)
