Item 288 #1s

Item 288 #1s

First Year - FY2025 Second Year - FY2026
Health and Human Resources
Department of Medical Assistance Services FY2025 $0 FY2026 $2,300,000 GF
FY2025 $0 FY2026 ($2,300,000) NGF

Explanation

(This amendment reduces the Health Care Fund by $2.3 million the second year and increases the general fund provided to Medicaid by $2.3 million the second year to reflect changes proposed in a companion amendment in Part to impose a 20 percent tobacco products tax on cigars or 30 cents per cigar, whichever is less, consistent with Senate Bill 1162 as proposed. Cigars are currently taxed at 20 percent of the manufacturer's sale price. As a placeholder, based on Department of Taxation estimates to the Joint Subcommittee on Tax Policy, this assigns a revenue reduction of $2.3 million the second year to the Health Care Fund and backfills Medicaid with general fund for the impact.)
