"DD. Out of this appropriation, $87,500 the first year and $1,332,250 the second year from the general fund is provided for the Virginia Health Workforce Development Authority to support the following initiatives: (i) establishment of a Nursing Workforce Center; (ii) creation of a Direction Support Professional training program; (iii) completion of an anesthesiology workforce study; (iv) establishment of a Health Workforce Database; and (v) access to the All Payers Claim database. These funds shall be used to address critical workforce shortages, improve data-drive decision-making, and support the training and retention of healthcare professionals statewide."



Explanation

(This amendment provides $87,500 GF the first year and $1.3 million GF the second year for the Virginia Health Workforce Development Authority (VHWDA) to support the following initiatives: (i) $955,000 to establish a Nursing Workforce Center; (ii) $136,000 to create a Direct Support Professional training program; (iii) $178,750 to complete an anesthesiology workforce study; (iv) $105,000 to establish a Health Workforce Database; and (v) $45,000 to access the All Payers Claims database. The funding will help VHWDA increase operational funding for targeted initiatives that will expand workforce capacity, improve data collection and analysis, and support the training of critical healthcare professionals.)
