Explanation

(This amendment provides the VRS $138,500 from the nongeneral fund pursuant to the passage of House Bill 1563 which adds 911 dispatchers who work for state agencies into the VaLORS retirement system and adds local E-911 dispatchers on the list of local employees eligible to receive enhanced retirement benefits. The funding supports the administrative changes needed to effectuate the change. The bill includes a delayed effective date making the benefit changes effective July 1, 2026. Once effective, there would be an estimated $630,000 general fund cost annually for providing the benefits beginning in the next beinnium.)
