"N. Out of this appropriation, $4,350,000 from the general fund the second year shall be provided to Virginia's 25 Area Agencies on Aging (AAAs) for elderly individual care services.  The Department for Aging and Rehabilitative Service, in collaboration with the AAAs, shall determine an equitable distribution of the funding that provides flexibility for the variation in local need for critical individual care services to enable seniors to remain in their homes."

Explanation

(This amendment adds $4.4 million from the general fund in fiscal year 2026 for elderly individual care services provided through the 25 Area Agencies on Aging (AAAs) to address the unmet need for critical services to keep seniors in their homes (home care, personal care, transportation, home-delivered meals, congregate meals, and case management). Flexibility in allocating this funding for specific critical services is essential as need varies across the Commonwealth and the 25 AAAs.)
