Explanation
(This amendment reduces the appropriation for the environmental cleanup of the Emergency Fuel Storage Facility at Cheatham Annex by $500,000 the first year from the general fund. With this adjustment, Senate Bill 30 will provide $2,900,000 from the general fund and an estimated $500,000 from federal funds the first year, and an additional $307,000 from the general fund the second year. The Department of Emergency Services is negotiating with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers regarding the federal responsibility for environmental contamination which was caused or may have been caused while the U. S. Navy operated the facility. Pending the outcome of this negotiation, the final amount of the state's obligation remains unresolved.)
