$600,000 in each
year and three positions from the general fund is provided for  three workforce training centers: 1) in the Danville region; 2) for the Hampton Roads Regional Workforce Training Center, which includes Paul D. Camp Community College and Thomas Nelson Community College; and 3) one center in a region to be designated by the Workforce Training Council.
2.  Under the oversight of the Statewide Workforce Training Council, authorized under SB 383, the VCCS shall submit a report by November 4 of each year to the chairmen of the Senate Finance and House Appropriations Committees on the financing, activities, accomplishments, and future plans of the three workforce training centers.  Information on job placements, participation by local governments and the private sector, and other relevant data should also be included in the report.".


Explanation
(This amendment provides funds for three high-skills workforce training centers, which will coordinate specific high-skill training in specific regions in the state, develop industry standards and related curriculum, and provide skills assessments. This amendment is a recommendation of House Joint Resolution 622, the Joint Subcommittee to Study Noncredit Education for Workforce Training in the Commonwealth.)
