Page 70, after line 40, insert:  "The Office of Consumer Affairs shall prepare a report on its activities, including but not limited to, the number of complaints and inquiries, cases initiated and investigated, cases closed or disputes resolved, and cases pending under the Consumer Protection Act and other regulatory programs; the amounts of funds recovered on behalf of consumers; and activity costs.  The report shall be submitted to the Chairmen of the Senate Finance and House Appropriations Committees by November 4, 1998, using data from Fiscal Year 1998.".


Explanation
(This amendment provides $150,000 of general fund support in 1998-2000 for the Office of Consumer Affairs. The Office is part of the Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services. The funds would be used to cover operating costs for 11 investigator positions restored in the 1996-98 biennium.)
