Explanation
(This amendment provides $200,000 the first year and $300,000 the second year from the general fund for the Court-Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) program. Local CASA programs provide training for volunteers appointed by the court to gather information about a child's circumstances in cases alleging physical or sexual abuse, neglect, or abandonment of the child, and to make recommendations to the court which address the best interests of the child.)
