Explanation
(This amendment provides $60,000 each year for a female admissions officer position at Virginia Military Institute, and affirms that funding for faculty salaries is calculated using the customary method for achieving the 60th percentile of the peer group by the year 2000. The same calculation for faculty salary increases was used for all other public institutions of higher education. For Virginia Military Institute, instructional faculty increases of 3.6 percent the first year and 3.3 percent the second year will allow the Institute to meet the 60th percentile salary objective by fiscal year 2000. Administrative and part-time faculty and graduate teaching assistants are funded for increases of 3.1 percent the first year, and 3.3 percent the second year.)
