Page 124, after line 30, insert:
"G.  The State Council of Higher Education shall study and recommend to the 1999 Session of the General Assembly the programs and the types of four-year institutions that should be included for eligibility in the Virginia Undergraduate and Vocational Incentive Scholarship Program created in House Bill 917.  The State Council shall also study and make recommendations on the nature and level of scholarships to be granted under the program."


Explanation
(This amendment directs the State Council of Higher Education to study and make recommendations to the 1999 Session of the General Assembly on the programs and the types of four-year institutions that offer them as part of the implementation of the Virginia Undergraduate and Vocational Incentive Scholarships Program created in House Bill 917. The purpose of the bill is to encourage students attending four-year institutions to enroll in programs that match the Commonwealth's current and projected workforce training needs. The State Council also is directed to make recommendations on the nature and level of the scholarships contemplated in the legislation.)
