"D.  The Department of Corrections is authorized to enter into a two-year contract with the Gemeinschaft Home/Piedmont House for a pilot project using a community-based residential transition program for drug-involved offenders.   The Department of Corrections shall, in conjunction with Gemeinschaft Home/Piedmont House, develop an evaluation methodology to determine the impact of this program on the recidivism of drug-involved offenders.  The Department shall submit annual reports on the progress of this pilot program to the Virginia State Crime Commission."


Explanation
(This amendment provides an additional $200,750 general fund each year to the Department of Corrections for a pilot project using a community-based residential transition program for drug-involved offenders. These funds will supplement existing residential treatment funds that can be used for this pilot project.)
