Explanation
(This amendment reduces from the level of House Bill 30 as introduced the additional funding provided each year for faculty salary increases at James Madison University. The reductions are the result of using the customary calculation for achieving the 60th percentile of the peer group. This calculation assures that the salary of the faculty at each public institution of higher education will be equal to an amount slightly above the average for the institution's peer group. This amendment was proposed in the "Unified Amendment" developed by the presidents of the public institutions of higher education. Companion amendments apply the same policy to all public institutions of higher education.)
