A. The Department shall provide a report on the utilization and performance of the positions provided in this and previous biennia for violent crime strike forces and for the state/local anti-crime partnership to the Governor and Chairmen of the House Appropriations and Senate Finance Committees by October 1 of each year.


B. Included in this appropriation is $1,551,360 the first year and $1,333,292 the second year from nongeneral funds for replacement of motor vehicles.


C. The amount for Crime Detection, Investigation, and Apprehension includes $5,400,000 the second year from the general fund for 105 new State Trooper positions. It is the intent of the General Assembly that these positions be used by the Department to expand its efforts in narcotics interdiction, reducing urban violent crime and teen drug abuse, expanding rural patrol coverage, and reducing incident response time.
