Explanation

(This amendment provides $2.6 million GF the first year and $2.2 million GF the second year for Virginia Victim Information and Notification Everyday (VINE), primarily for a two-year pilot program of the VINE Advance enhancement to the existing platform. Currently, VA VINE, provided by the Virginia Center for Policing Innovation, supports Virginia's State Automated Victim Information and Notification (SAVIN) system, which provides updates to victims on an offender's custody status post-arrest. The VINE Advance enhancement would enable local law enforcement and prosecutor agencies to provide additional notifications, such as investigation and case updates, court dates, and connections to local resources. This pilot would support the enhancement in 20 local agencies. The amount also includes $127,269 each year to cover recent cost increases for the services that VINE is currently providing to the Commonwealth.)
