Explanation
(This amendment provides funding for additional staff to address the need to continue the Commonwealth's cost-effective management of public records under Sections 42.1-76 through 91 of the Code of Virginia. The ever-increasing number of electronic records and the development of new technologies is jeopardizing the effectiveness of the state's records management program, limiting public access to information, and costing state agencies. The additional funds cover costs for two records analysts and one electronic records archivist plus training in the first year, plus an additinal processing archivist and IT hardware and software in the second year.)
