"A.  This appropriation includes $2,100,000 the first year and $1,050,000 the second year from the general fund for digital content and support services distributed by the Virginia public media stations.  The school superintendents shall appoint representatives from the school divisions in each public media viewing area to serve on a board to choose the digital content, additional materials, and support services that best suit their needs.  The material provided by the Virginia public media will conform to state standards and be cross-referenced to the Standards of Learning.  The cost efficient and easily accessible preK through 12 educational content and online instructional resources will assist teachers in critical areas, such as science, technology, math, and languages while continuing the committment to literacy.
The Department of Education shall participate in the negotiations and be a signatory to contracts with the Virginia public media stations for digital content and support services distributed to school divisions across the Commonwealth."
