Explanation
(This amendment provides $700,000 from the general fund in the first year to provide community-based behavioral health service for chronically homeless individuals who are not Medicaid eligible to be served in permanent supportive housing. The introduced budget provides $1.0 million in fiscal year 2013 in the Department of Housing and Community Development to create permanent supportive housing for homeless individuals. Services would include outpatient care, case management, supportive residential, or assertive community treatment (which provides all three services to individuals with serious mental illness. The average annual per-person cost of these services is between $10,500 and $12,600, based on fiscal year 2011 estimates.)
