Explanation
(This amendment provides $4.6 million the first year and $5.9 million the second year from the general fund to correct a calculation in the introduced budget which erroneously reduced Medicaid payments for Indirect Medical Education (IME) at the University of Virginia (UVA) Medical Center by an inflationary factor as applied to other Medicaid inpatient hospital payments. Medicaid IME payments to the state teaching hospitals are not typically adjusted by an inflation factor, consequently the result of this adjustment was to reduce payments to UVA Medical Center for indigent care.)
