Explanation
(This amendment provides $27.3 million the first year and $27.6 million the second year from the general fund to restore funding to the PreK Initiative. The introduced budget, House Bill 30, captured the same respective amounts each year from nonparticipation rates in the PreK Initiative. The intent of this amendment is to redirect any available eligible unspent balances from the PreK Initiative into a new Fund, 'Virginia Preschool Initiative Local Grant Program', pursuant to legislation contained in House Bill 144 and Senate Bill 261.)
