Language Page 90, after line 49, insert:"Authority: Title 2.2, Chapter 24, Code of Virginia.Out of this appropriation, $120,163 each year from the general fund is designated to support radio reading services for the blind and visually impaired. The Secretary of Education is authorized to allocate and disburse these state funds to public broadcasting stations and private nonprofit organizations to provide radio reading services for the benefit of print-disabled individuals. "Radio reading services" means the acquisition, production, and distribution by nonprofit organizations or by public broadcasting stations of noncommercial educational, instructional, informational, or cultural audio programs which may be transmitted by means of electronic communication for the benefit of print-disabled individuals, and any related equipment, materials, and services provided for the benefit of such individuals."
Explanation(This amendment transfers existing funds for radio reading services back to the Office of the Secretary of Education from the Department for the Blind and Vision Impaired. There is a companion amendment in Item 350 removing the funds.)
