"B.  The Secretary of Administration shall develop plans for the disposition of the Staunton Correctional Center property and for the development of an alternative source of steam and hot water for the Virginia School for the Deaf and Blind at Staunton.  The Secretary of Administration shall consult with the Secretary of Commerce and Trade and with the City of Staunton as to the potential reuse of this property.  The plan shall be presented to the Governor and the Chairmen of the Senate Finance and House Appropriations Committees by November 1, 2002."


Explanation
(This amendment requires the Secretary of Administration to develop plans for the disposition of surplus state property at Staunton Correctional Center and for the establishment of an alternative source for steam and hot water for the Virginia School for the Deaf and Blind at Staunton, which is currently supplied by the correctional center. A companion amendment to Item 161 provides for the development of a plan for the expansion of the Virginia School for the Deaf and Blind at Staunton. A companion amendment to Item 424.10 directs the Department of Corrections to close Staunton Correctional Center as of July 1, 2003.)
