Explanation

(This amendment provides $500,000 GF the first year to initiate the Emergency Response Exposure Grant Fund and Program, based on the recommendations of the "Preemptive and Ongoing Health Care to Local Government Employees Exposed to Toxic Materials" report submitted pursuant to Chapter 363, 2024 Acts of Assembly. The funding would also support a pilot program with the City of Virginia Beach. As part of the pilot program, the Department of Fire Programs shall open a six-month window after the publication of the grant program, during which additional localities may submit applications in order for the Department to gauge eligibility and better understand future funding needs. After the six-month window closes, events that took place prior to July 1, 2026, would not be eligible for future consideration.)
