Explanation

(This amendment provides $18.1 million GF and 1.0 position each year to increase funding for the Safer Communities Program at the Department of Criminal Justice Services, including $150,000 GF for administration of the program, and expansion of the program to the cities of Hampton, Hopewell, and Newport News. Language requires that recipient localities prioritize support for community-led solutions and prohibits funding from being used for school safety or school resource officers.)
