"M. Out of the amounts in this Item, $100,000 the first year from the general fund is provided for a study on the potential for use of reclaimed water (also known as "purple water") by data centers and other large industrial facilities for evaporative cooling and other systems.  The report should consider, but is not limited to, health and safety concerns, infrastructure needs, environmental and ecosystem issues, and permitting and regulatory considerations. The analysis shall be provided to the Chairs of House Committee on Agriculture, Conservation, and Natural Resources, and Senate Committee on Agriculture, Conservation, and Natural Resources by July 1, 2027."



Explanation

(This amendment provides $100,000 GF the first year for the Department of Environmental Quality to study the feasibility of using reclaimed water (purple water) to serve data centers and other large industrial uses in Virginia. The analysis shall be provided to the Chairs of House Committee on Agriculture, Conservation, and Natural Resources, and Senate Committee on Agriculture, Conservation, and Natural Resources by July 1, 2027.)
