"QQQQQ. The Department of Medical Assistance Services shall require Medicaid managed care organizations to reimburse providers at no less than 100 percent of the state Medicaid program Durable Medical Equipment fee schedule for the same service or item of durable medical equipment, prosthetics, orthotics, and supplies. The department shall have the authority to implement this reimbursement change effective July 1, 2026 and prior to the completion of any regulatory process undertaken in order to effect such change."

Explanation

(This amendment provides funding to increase the rates the Department of Medical Assistance (DMAS) requires managed care organizations to reimburse for durable medical equipment from 90.0 percent of the Medicaid fee schedule to 100 percent of the Medicaid fee schedule. The amendment is intended to create equity between the amount DMAS is reimbursing providers for durable medical equipment (DME) in the fee-for-service program and the amount paid for the same equipment in the managed care program. When DME companies provide products to managed care Medicaid patients they absorb the following loses as examples; $88.47 each time they provide a hospital bed to a Medicaid recipient’s home, $81.25 each time they provide a commode chair; $55.20 each month they deliver certain incontinence products.)
