Page 175, after line 24, insert:

"2) Such intervention programs, at the discretion of the local school division, may include, but not be limited to, the use of: special reading teachers; trained aides; high-dosage tutoring, as defined in Item 124; full-time early literacy tutors; volunteer tutors under the supervision of a certified teacher; computer-based reading tutorial programs; aides to instruct in-class groups while the teacher provides direct instruction to the students who need extra assistance; or extended instructional time in the school day or year for these students.

3) The Department of Education, in partnership with the Virginia Literacy Partnerships at the University of Virginia, shall establish a review process for high-dosage tutoring providers seeking approval under the Virginia Literacy Act for Early Intervention Reading Initiative funding eligibility. Such review process shall be completed no later than December 1, 2026."



Explanation

(This language-only amendment allows high-dosage tutoring to be included as a reading intervention service that can be funded by schools through Early Reading Intervention Payments.)
