Explanation

(This amendment provides $5.5 million from the general fund and $5.5 million from nongeneral funds each year to increase the amount of supplemental payments to fund graduate medical education residency slots through the Medicaid program. Funding will be used to increase the supplemental payment for each qualifying residence slot from $100,000 to $165,000. Language eliminates the separate higher supplemental payment of $150,000 for qualifying obstetric-gynecological and psychiatric residency slots, since the additional funding raises the payment for all residency slots to $165,000.)
