The Department of Medical Assistance services shall amend the State Plan for Medical Assistance Services to allow Medicaid reimbursement for electronic consultations between health care providers to reduce patient transfers, referral wait times and consultation delays.  The Department shall have the authority to promulgate emergency regulations to implement changes within 280 days or less from the enactment of this act."



Explanation

(This amendment provides funding and language for expansion of Office-based Opioid Treatment (OBOT) through telemedicine. OBOT is a medical approach for Opioid Use Disorder provided within a primary care or general healthcare setting, incorporating medication-assisted treatment (such as buprenorphine) and counseling. Funding would enable 640 more Medicaid enrollees to be served.)
