Explanation

(This amendment restores funding and modifies language in the introduced budget to allow for a provisional diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder for children age 5 or younger in order to receive Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA) services. The introduced budget included language requiring a diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder in order to receive ABA services. A final diagnosis of autism spectrum in young children is often difficult and very early social skills training, preferably before school age, can have a major impact on later development. Autism is harder to diagnose than ADHD or sensory issues and also has a range of symptoms that look different in different kids, making it more difficult to get a final diagnosis.)
