Out of this appropriation, $150,000 the first year from the Commonwealth Opioid Abatement and Remediation fund shall be provided to Virginia Department of Health (VDH) to conduct a needs assessment and evaluation of existing opioid overdose prevention, intervention, and treatment efforts to inform development of a statewide strategic plan for opioid response in Virginia. VDH shall ensure the needs assessment and evaluation are conducted in coordination with appropriate agencies identified to participate in the development and monitoring of a statewide strategic plan for opioid response."  



Explanation

(This amendment provides the Virginia Department of Health (VDH) with $150,000 the first year from the Commonwealth Opioid Abatement and Remediation fund to allow VDH to initiate the process of developing a statewide strategic plan with a needs assessment and evaluation of current opioid prevention, intervention, and treatment options, thus allowing VDH and partner agencies directed to develop the statewide plan with much needed information about state success, needs, gaps and priorities.)
