"D. Out of this appropriation, $10,000,000 the first year and $10,000,000 the second year from the general fund is provided to support that in the case of procurement of goods by manufacturers, if the lowest responsive bid is for agricultural products produced or processed in Virginia and intended for school nutrition programs, including fresh fruits, vegetables, and dairy products and is within 20 percent of such bid, such bidder for agricultural products that are produced or processed in Virginia shall be granted the option to match the price of the lowest responsive and responsible bidder."



Explanation

(This amendment provides funds to support the projected increased cost of procurement for school nutrition programs prioritizing products grown in Virginia, pursuant to House Bill 1086.)
