Explanation

(This amendment provides an additional $13.1 million over the biennium to the Virginia Eviction Reduction Program (VERP), which provides funding to local and regional eviction prevention programs to cover any expense that will prevent a household from being evicted. The funds provided in this amendment will support the establishment and expansion of the program statewide as proposed in House Bill 527 of the 2026 General Assembly. The program currently only serves Southwest Virginia, Hampton Roads, the Middle Peninsula, and far Southside Virginia.)
