Explanation

(This amendment provides $1.5 million from the general fund in fiscal year 2021 and $7.0 million from the general fund in fiscal year 2022 to fund the impact of House Bill 395 which increases the minimum wage over a four year period. The legislation would increase the minimum wage from $7.25 per hour to $9 per hour effective July 1, 2020; to $11 per hour effective July 1, 2021; to $13 per hour effective July 1, 2022; and to $15 per hour effective July 1, 2023. In addition to the general fund impact, it is estimated that the legislation will increase nongeneral fund expenditures by $701,241 in fiscal year 2021 and $4.0 million nongeneral fund expenditures in fiscal year 2022.)
