"9. Out of this appropriation, $600,000 from the general fund each year is provided for grants to localities to provide 10 law enforcement recovery resource officers to identify individuals presenting to law enforcement who may be candidates for medical detoxification and collaborate with recovery agencies to divert the individual from the criminal justice system.   Grants shall be made to provide 1 recovery resource officer in each of the following areas:  the Cities of Abingdon, Lynchburg, Richmond and Winchester; the Counties of Caroline, Hanover and Henrico; and Northern Virginia, Tidewater Region, and Martinsville/Danville."



Explanation

(This amendment adds $600,000 from the general fund each year for 10 law enforcement recovery resource officers to divert individuals who may be candidates for medical detoxification services and substance abuse treatment and recovery services from criminal justice system involvement.)
