Explanation

(This amendment provides an appropriation to the Corrections Special Reserve Fund to reflect the estimated impact on utilization of beds in the Commonwealth’s Adult Correctional Centers resulting in changes in criminal sentencing pursuant to House Bill 602, which provides that, if it is alleged in the warrant, indictment, or information that a person had previously been convicted of larceny or any offense deemed to be or punished as larceny, robbery, or carjacking, such person shall, upon conviction for petit larceny or any offense deemed to be or punished as petit larceny, receive a jail sentence of at least 30 days or, if two or more prior offenses are alleged, be guilty of a Class 6 felony.)
