Explanation
(This amendment provides $3.3 million to continue the state-local-federal partnership to clean up the bottom of the Elizabeth River, the most toxic waterway in the Chesapeake Bay watershed. The state dollars leverage $8.5 million of federal funds and $1.29 million of local money. The funds are for engineering, design and implementation of clean up at Scuffletown Creek in Chesapeake as a test site for the rest of the river. The funds also restore eight wetlands in Chesapeake, Norfolk, Portsmouth, and Virginia Beach.)
