"D.  Out of this appropriation, $300,000 the first year and $300,000 the second year from the federal Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) grant to support competitive grants to 501(c)(3) faith-based, charitable, private, volunteer and other organizations to provide marriage preparation courses, communications and parenting skills, marriage education, and other programs that advance the general purposes of TANF to strengthen two-parent families and responsible fatherhood."

(This amendment provides federal TANF funds for competitive grants to support faith-based and community initiatives to strengthen low-income families. This funding is in addition to the $1.2 million in TANF funds already allocated for such purposes. This is a recommendation of the HJR 683 (2001 Session) Special Task Force Studying Ways Faith-Based Community Service Groups May Provide Assistance to Meet Social Needs.)
