"HH.  As a condition of this appropriation, effective July 1, 2002, the Department of Medical Assistance Services shall disregard the value of one motor vehicle per assistance unit in determining the Medicaid eligibility for low income families pursuant to §1931 of the Social Security Act. "

Explanation
(This amendment disregards the value of one motor vehicle for low-income parents applying for Medicaid. Currently, one car is exempt for aged and disabled individuals applying for Medicaid, and all resources are disregarded for children’s Medicaid eligibility. Yet, very low-income parents seeking Medicaid are still subject to vehicle counting rules.)
