Explanation
(This amendment restores federal Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF) funding for homeless shelter services for low-income families to the level funded in fiscal year 2001. The TANF funds would provide a continuum of housing services targeted to homeless families attempting to regain independence. Services would include: assistance for emergency and transitional shelter; supportive services such as life skills, education, and job training; care for homeless children while parents look for work; and rental assistance.)
