Explanation
(This amendment provides nongeneral funds instead of general fund appropriations in fiscal year 2004 for a portion of indigent care costs at the state teaching hospitals. A companion amendment in Item 1.1 provides $2.25 million to partially restore the general fund reduction. Based on these two actions, the remaining general fund appropriations in fiscal year 2004 total $24,275,000. Of this total, $21,476,729 is provided for the VCU Health Systems Authority and $2,798,271 is provided to UVA Medical Center.)
