Page 257, after line 7, insert:
"HH.  Contingent upon approval by the Centers for Medicaid and Medicare Services for a Research and Demonstration 1115 Waiver for the management of chronic care conditions of elderly and disabled persons through the Virginia Area Agencies on Aging, the Department of Medical Assistance Services shall promulgate emergency regulations to become effective within 280 days or less from the enactment date of this Act.  The Department of Medical Assistance Services shall implement these necessary regulatory changes to be consistent with federal approval of this waiver.  The Department shall report on its efforts to obtain approval of the waiver and any necessary budget amendments required to implement the waiver to the Chairmen of the House Appropriations and Senate Finance Committees by December 1, 2002."


Explanation
(This amendment requires the Department of Medical Assistance Services to seek federal approval for a waiver to provide Medicaid reimbursement for the management of chronic care conditions in the community by the Virginia Area Agencies on Aging. Language is added for the Department to report back to the General Assembly on the status of its waiver request and any necessary budget amendments needed to implement the waiver.)
