Explanation
(This amendment provides funds to support training for staff in the Eastern Region of the Department of Social Services at Norfolk State University. Funding would be used as follows: (i) $415,000 for training to reduce the Food Stamp program error rate; (ii) $265,000 for orientation and training for new workers in the Foster Care program; (iii) $245,000 for orientation and training for new workers in the field of domestic violence; (iv) $225,000 for orientation and training for new child protective services workers; (v) $300,000 for a statewide Headstart training program; and (vi) $80,000 in seed funds to establish a community service support center for the Eastern Region. The source of the nongeneral funds would be the federal Temporary Assistance to Needy Families block grant.)
