This project includes $1,120,000 from the general fund in the first year to treat toxicity in the reject stream of the water treatment plant at the Coffeewood Correctional Center. The funds shall be allotted by the Director of the Department of Planning and Budget only after the Department of Corrections has identified the source of the toxicity and developed a plan for treating it. Such a plan should include cost estimates and must be approved by the Director of the Department of Environmental Quality and the Secretary of Public Safety as necessary and appropriate for addressing the toxicity problem.
