Page 641, after line 21, insert:

"l. Notwithstanding the provisions of subsection B of § 51.1-155, any person who: (i) has attained age 45; (ii) was hired between January 1, 2005 and April 1, 2005 to serve as a Department of Criminal Justice Services certified law-enforcement officer with a law-enforcement agency of the Commonwealth; (iii) has completed a minimum of 15 years of continuous service as a sworn law-enforcement officer with such agency; (iv) was a member of the Virginia Law Officers' Retirement System prior to appointment as a commissioner, agency head, or equivalent chief executive position; (v) was appointed by the Governor to serve as a commissioner, agency head, or equivalent chief executive position of a state agency; (vi) was involuntarily terminated or not reappointed upon the expiration of the term of gubernatorial appointment for reasons other than misconduct, malfeasance, and voluntary resignation as the commissioner, agency head, or equivalent chief executive position of a state agency, shall be eligible for: (a) all enhanced Workforce Transition Act benefits including creditable service enhancements; (b) the award of additional years of service as permitted under the Virginia Retirement eligibility and benefit calculation; (c) severance benefits authorized for a period not to exceed 36 weeks; and (d) credited with service in the Virginia Law Officer's Retirement System for all periods during which such individual served in such appointed commissioner, agency head or equivalent chief executive position of a state agency."

(This amendment provides that an employee meeting certain employment criteria would be eligible for benefits under the Workforce Transition Act and other retirement benefits.)
