Explanation

(This amendment provides $5.0 million the first year from federal American Rescue Plan Act provided for the Department of Health Professions to create a one-time program to recruit and train a significant number of new Certified Nurse Aides (CNAs) to support Virginia's long-term care workforce. This would replicate an effort in Minnesota that recruited and trained 1,000 new CNAs in just a few months to support badly understaffed nursing facilities by fully covering the cost of books and tuition. A portion of the funds would be dedicated to marketing and recruitment.)
