"2. Out of this appropriation, $3,250,000 the first year and $3,000,000 the second year from the general fund shall be provided for the Health Innovation Fund. The Virginia Health Workforce Development Authority shall provide central oversight and regulatory review of the Health Innovation Fund.

3. Of this appropriation, from the amounts in paragraph H.2., $1,500,000 the first year and $1,500,000 the second year from the general fund shall be provided for competitive grants from the Health Innovation Fund, prioritizing high need areas that are ready to begin a training program.

4. Of this appropriation, from the amounts in paragraph H.2., $250,000 the first year from the general fund matching shall be provided for competitive grants for seed money to initially fund five organizations to support regional employer-led collective models the first year and four organizations to support regional employer-led collective models the second year based on GoVirginia nine regions. The funding awards must be matched by regional employers.

5. Of this appropriation, from the amounts in paragraph H.2., $500,000 the first year and $500,000 the second year from the general fund shall be provided to the George Mason University Data Center to assist the Virginia Health Workforce Development Authority with data collection and evaluation of the Health Innovation Fund. Virginia Health Workforce Development Authority will provide central oversight and regulatory review of the Health Innovation Fund."



Explanation

(This amendment provides $3.3 million the first year and $3.0 million the second year from the general fund to establish the Health Innovation Fund. From this fund $1.5 million each year is for competitive grants from the Health Innovation Fund, prioritizing high need areas that are ready to begin a training program. Another $250,000 matching competitive grants the first year is for seed money to initially fund five organizations to support regional employer-led collective models the first year and four organizations to support regional employer-led collective models the second year based on GoVirginia nine regions with funding awards being matched by regional employers. Additionally, $500,000 the first year and $500,000 the second year is for George Mason University Data Center to assist the Virginia Health Workforce Development Authority with data collection and evaluation of the Health Innovation Fund. The Virginia Health Workforce Development Authority will provide central oversight and regulatory review of the Health Innovation Fund.)
