"RR. Out of this appropriation, $50,000,000 from the general fund the second year shall be provided to increase compensation for staff that work for Community Services Boards for a Behavioral Health Authority.  The Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services, in collaboration with the CSBs/BHAs shall develop the criteria for allocating the funds. The department may fund up to 100 percent of the costs of the compensation increase."

Explanation

(This amendment provides $50.0 million the second year from the general fund to increase compensation for staff at Community Services Boards or a Behavioral Health Authority in fiscal year 2024. CSBs indicate compensation is a key driver in recruitment/retention challenges and a top reason staff are planning to leave their jobs. Alleviating staffing shortages could reduce waiting lists and expedite access to services.)
