Explanation

(This amendment provides $3.8 million the second year from the general fund to fully restore funding for alternative inpatient options to state behavioral health hospital care through the establishment of two-year pilot projects to reduce census pressures on state hospitals. A total of $7.5 million each year was approved in the 2020 Session, but the funding was unalloted due to the revenue impact from the Coronavirus Pandemic. Half the funding was restored in the Special Session in Chapter 56 and this amendment restores the remaining amount. The amendment also clarifies that pilot projects could also include the option to build community capacity for patients on the Extraordinary Barriers List in order to relieve census pressure.)
